Curatorial interpretation
Dense, rapid vertical strokes of grey, navy, cream and gold rise like reeds or grasses across a wide field. The mood is windy, soft and atmospheric. Landscape is simplified into fields, contours and gestures, closer to a felt memory of place than a record of it. The painting can be read as emotional terrain, where colour and movement carry the atmosphere. In the exhibition it appears at position 30 (ROOM VI), where its role is: quiet/breathing artwork.
